Company Profile
Hologic is a global medical technology company focused on women's health, spanning diagnostics, surgical solutions, and imaging — from breast and skeletal health to gynecological surgery and molecular diagnostics. Founded in 1985, Hologic employs around 7,000 people across 36 countries and holds more than 4,100 patents, guided by what it calls its purpose: advancing the health of women worldwide.
The Challenge
Complex medical devices demand training that's just as precise as the technology itself. Hologic's Fluent Pro Fluid Management System — used in hysteroscopic surgery to manage fluid inflow and suction during tissue-removal procedures — combines adjustable suction levels, SmartFlo automation, and a guided touchscreen workflow. Teaching clinical teams to use it confidently traditionally meant flat manuals, static slides, or in-person sessions that were hard to scale, repeat, or adapt to each learner's pace.

The Action
Hologic and VUSE XR partnered to build an immersive, interactive XR training model of the Fluent Pro system — turning a physical device into a mixed-reality learning journey. Trainees can now learn at their own pace, wherever they are, walking through real-world procedural scenarios in 3D rather than reading about them. The content is real-time 3D/XR that can be adjusted with a click, keeping every learner aligned with expert-level knowledge without re-shooting a single training video.
The Result
The immersive approach delivered faster onboarding and better training outcomes — cutting onboarding time by 30% — while giving Hologic a high-quality, remote-capable learning journey that scales worldwide at a fraction of the cost of traditional in-person training. As Borg Vanden Berghe, Senior Director, Sales and Applications Excellence at Hologic, put it: 'With VUSE XR, we've transformed how our teams learn Fluent Pro — trainees move through real procedural scenarios in immersive 3D instead of static slides, at their own pace, wherever they are. That's cut our onboarding time by 30% while keeping every learner at an expert level."
